INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION
The Kashmere Jazz Ensemble was inspired by love, togetherness and devotion. We had the proper guidance and the proper music teacher, William Portis. He provided music theory and the proper approach to his students along with the desire to master the art of music. His music structure along with great mentorship provided them with driving forces to obtain greatness. The instruments were the tool, the scales were the guiding light and the scales were the basis mode to explore the wonderful world of music. Everything came together with musical structure, dedication, hardwork and improvisations, creating skilled musicians that Kashmere produced.

A Creative Collaboration
Music is full of tradition. Whether it’s an inspiring tune or a commitment to write music from the heart, the band members of Kashmere Jazz Ensemble Band from Fall 1985- Fall 2006 have embraced these traditions while establishing a reputation of establishing some well known and amazing musicians. During my time from 1986 through 1990 we rolled out some truly amazing tunes and won countless awards in Jazz competitions. Take a look around the site, and explore what the gift of music truly is.
